Why a working shop matters

Most retail software is designed in a meeting room. The people writing it have never stood behind a counter at seven in the evening with eleven people in the queue, a barcode that will not scan, and a regular customer asking about his balance.

Kairali Minimart is where Cartix gets tested. Every feature ships there first. If a change makes billing one second slower, someone notices that same evening, and it does not go out to anyone else.

What we decided early

• Offline is the default, not the fallback

  The database lives on your machine. The cloud holds a copy. That is harder to build than a cloud-only product, and it is the reason the counter does not stop when the line does.

• One licence, bought once

  No module upsells and no negotiation. Every billing module is on from day one, and the licence is bought outright rather than rented. What you pay yearly is the AMC — the cloud, the updates and the support, the parts that cost us money every month to run. Stop paying it and the billing still does not stop.

• Your data stays yours

  Local backup files you can copy to a pen drive, and Excel export for everything. If you ever leave, you leave with your data.

• Support from people who wrote it

  When you call, the person on the other end can usually fix the problem rather than log it. That stops being true at scale, so we are growing carefully.
